Dave Birch of Consult Hyperion was awarded the Trailblazer Award for 2009 at ID World in Milan.
The ID People Awards are given each year to "outstanding members of the international ID community" who have distinguished themselves in terms of commitment, leadership, creativity and innovation. The awards, sponsored by the publication ID People, are awarded in the following categories: ID Community Award, ID Leadership Award, ID Limelight Award, ID Trail Blazer Award and ID Outstanding Achievement Award. The Trailblazer Award is presented each year in "recognition of the individual who has made great strides in helping the market envisage what will happen over the coming years".
Reflecting on the award, Dave noted that "If I had written a proper acceptance speech (I hadn't) then I would have pointed out that the only way that I could win this award is buying taking the ideas of my colleagues at Consult Hyperion and finding ways to communicate them to a wider audience. So thanks to all of them as well as my peers who voted for me."
